We love West Central, we love community events, we love people, and we love local musicians! We think this event is a great way for people to see the vibrant and diverse community alive here in West central.
Our favorite thing about hosting at PorchFest was the steady flow of new people, hearing them share their favorite experiences of the day and making new friends! We also absolutely loved having a musician on our porch, getting to know them, and sharing food and stories with them was super cool! Watching our neighbors come together and enjoy the event was also something we loved! Last year one of our neighbor’s favorite musicians of all time played on our porch so they were so excited! He is one of our favorites now, too!
Work hard to really get your block involved. Let them know ahead of time. Take flyers to all their houses. This helps your block feel like they are hosting with you. Make sure to invite your performer’s family to spend the time at your house and make them your special guests!
We hope to be a part of building community on our block and to help people outside of west central see some great things that are happening here in WC
We’ve been meeting with neighbors to brainstorm fun ideas and then working with them to make those things happen. Also we’ve been sending lots of emails and texts with reminders and info, making some special banners, and just preparing for the day so we can be available to meet people, connect people, and enjoy a super awesome event!
